Namahe (NAM) ICO Review – ICO Token News

Overview

Namahe Ecosystem offers a vision for a new standard that can be used in any industry to bring in transparency and to connect the various elements of the value chain, however far they might be in terms of geography. Globalisation has led to buyers sourcing goods from across the world, including from underdeveloped and developing countries. The influx of huge orders, price wars, lack of consistency in ethical sourcing policies and the implementation of these by the stakeholders involved, corruption and ignorance of the local law enforcing bodies, has led to various forms of exploitation by unscrupulous business owners and contractors down the supply chain. This can include wage exploitation, child labour, physical and emotional torture & sexual misconduct. Most of the products that we buy have a long value chain. This value chain is based on a supply chain model that is most economical for the manufacturing of the products. These supply chains cross countries and continents and can at times include the informal sector where traceability of these products and the workers involved can be challenging. Namahe will support the values of ethical business conduct in companies management systems, and would join hands with companies, industry associations, NGOs, trade unions & government bodies. Namahe solutions can be adopted by companies to have full transparency in their supply chain, which helps eradicate different forms of exploitation, as a result fostering trust in the brand. This has multiple benefits for the brand which include lower risk of negative publicity (impacting stock value), less need for big auditing teams and ensuring growth by maintaining customer loyalty.

Namahe Ecosystem

We first started our efforts in November 2009, when we got different stakeholders to work together towards a solution to tackle the issues mentioned above. This included SEWA (which has a membership of 1Mn low income group working women in India), a clothing supplier (Fashion Fudge Inc.), workers, a buyer (Plumettaz SA) and the University of HEIG in Switzerland. The project received funding from Venture Kick, a start-up boosting organisation in Switzerland.

The First element of Namahe is to bring all the different tiers and stakeholders within the value chain under one umbrella where the information is not centralised and controlled by certain companies but is available for easy access to anyone from the worker in a far flung village in Bangladesh to the consumer in New York.

Second element of Namahe is going to be the interconnectivity of communities and all other stakeholders. Our partner organisations that are active in community developments across the globe would be able to showcase their projects through the Namahe website. Anyone anywhere in the world interested in contributing to the community developments through the showcased projects would be able to get in touch with these organisations and provide financial and/or non-financial support. Namahe would not have any vested financial interests in these transactions between the stakeholders, except charging a service fee [to cover the costs]

Third element of Namahe Ecosystem is going to be a marketplace for buyers and sellers. As our network grows, our ecosystem would get potential retailers, manufacturers and suppliers together to be able to trade on the Namahe platform, thereby reducing the resources required on both sides to manage the sourcing, administrative as well as operational aspects of the value chain.

Marketplace

The Namahe Marketplace will leverage already published public APIs to integrate with industry leading platforms such as Amazon, Etsy, EBay and Alibaba. The Namahe marketplace users will be able tosell their products on multiple platforms using a common portal. Namahe will allow the user to share elements of their profile and testimonials to help build their credibility rating on respective platforms.  This component is a key enabler for social mobility and empowerment of actors at the far end of the supply chain who see relative fraction of benefit of their work effort. Such an initiative would both publish and encourage direct engagement with both consumers and front end organisations.

The NAM Token

Namahe marketplace will be designed as a global platform that will aim to support payments using prevalent digital currencies with preference to NAM tokens (in compliance with local laws and regulation). The ERC-20-compatible NAM token will be traded over the public Ethereum blockchain and will allow users to purchase and sell goods and services on Namahe Marketplace. The NAM token will be listed on major exchanges (to be announced) and will be transferable to other cryptocurrencies and fiat currencies. It is anticipated that demand of the NAM tokens will be driven by trading on the Exchanges and the demand of the Namahe marketplace, whilst the number of tokens in the public domain remains fixed.

Token Sale

The Namahe sale, and the corresponding ICO token creation process by Namahe Limited, will be organised around smart contracts running on Ethereum. Participants willing to support the development of the Namahe Project can do so by sending Ether currency to the address designated by Namahe Limited. By doing so, they are purchasing Namahe Tokens (NAM) at the rate of 1000 NAMs per 1 ETH which will be sent directly to their wallet. Instructions on how contributors can participate will be made available closer to the starting date of the distribution. The distribution period will run for a period of 15 days, or until the cap on token raising will be reached, whatever happens first.  Check ICO list to know more about ICOs.
